Why Hypnosis?

Know that in your deeper mind are Infinite Intelligence and Infinite Power.
— Joseph Murphy

"Why Hypnosis ?" Let's take a few moments to explore that

What Is Hypnosis and How Does It Work?

Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness, focus, concentration and suggestibility in which when the body and conscious mind are in a naturally relaxed state while the subconscious mind remains very alert and receptive to positive suggestions for change in your life. In hypnotherapy, we simply deal with how an undesired behavior can be unlearned and how a desired one can be learned to replace it. What we do is simply reprogram your subconscious mind to make it congruent with what you want consciously. Therapeutic hypnosis is a tool used to bypass the critical analysis of your mind so that the suggestions for change can be accepted and then incorporated into a new “automatic” behavior. Like they do with a computer, we reprogram your subconscious mind and create new positive associations that will help you achieve the goal you haven’t been able to achieve by yourself so far. In its simplest form, hypnotherapy is a partnership between you and your hypnotherapist to ultimately deliver a greater sense of fulfillment and well-being for you in your life. It accesses the unconscious wisdom we all have within and strengthens our capacity for change.

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE HYPNOTIZED?

Most people feel very relaxed.  It is sort of twilight state between sleep and awake when the brain waves start to slow down. Hypnosis uses guided relaxation of the body, allowing intense concentration to appear, and with focused attention one achieves a heightened state of awareness. This is a very naturally occurring state, and it allows you to focus your attention on a specific thought, situation, feeling or task.

What is the role of Hypnotherapist ?

A hypnotherapist is a professional specifically trained to support vocational and avocational self-improvement via the use of hypnosis. A well-trained hypnotherapist understands that clients heal themselves. Hence, the therapists acts more like a coach or a guide that holds a positive and powerful vision for his clients—a vision so contagious that it is projected outward, a vision so persuasive that the client can't help but be absorbed by it. When these conditions are met, change becomes inevitable, and therapist and client will co-create a beautiful new reality. According to Dr. John Kappas, Founder of HMI, wrote and defined the profession of a Hypnotherapist in the Federal Dictionary of Occupational Titles... "Induces hypnotic state in client to increase motivation or alter behavior patterns: Consults with client to determine nature of problem. Prepares client to enter hypnotic state by explaining how hypnosis works and what client will experience. Tests subject to determine degree of Emotional and Physical suggestibility. Induces hypnotic state in client, using individualized methods and techniques of hypnosis based on interpretation of test results and analysis of client's problem. May train client in self-hypnosis conditioning."

WHAT IF I CAN’T BE HYPNOTIZED?

Everyone has the ability to be hypnotized. Hypnosis is a very normal process that we all experience for a few minutes everyday before we fall asleep. Everyone who is willing to relax and enjoy the benefits of hypnosis can be hypnotized. Anyone who can follow directions can be hypnotized. The most creative and intelligent people are usually the best subjects Hypnosis is a very natural state that we all experience everyday.  Have you ever cried or laughed during a movie? What was happening on the screen wasn’t real but your body responded physically.  This is because you allowed yourself to go along on the journey.  This is also true with hypnotherapy.  If you have the will to be hypnotized you will have no problem dropping into hypnosis.

WHAT TOOLS ARE USED IN HYPNOSIS?

In Hypnosis, Therapeutic Imagery, NLP, Mindfulness, EFT, Past Life Regression Therapy, Therapeutic Imagery, Progressive Relaxation and more are the tools used in hypnotherapy to facilitate the internal, emotional, behavioral flexibility need to overcome homeostasis and release our subconscious needs to sabotage our success or resist our desires for change and reprogram your self with Neuroplasticity (On a personal, spiritual and behavioral level, neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to change throughout an individual’s life. Our ability to changes beliefs, emotional responses and behavioral habits is dependent on the flexibility of or our mind. )

WILL I LOSE CONTROL IN HYPNOSIS?

Nobody gets stuck or lose control in hypnosis. After being in hypnosis for a while, if the hypnotist stops giving suggestions , someone can either "wake up" or fall asleep. But the truth is that a hypnotist can’t make you do anything you don’t consciously want to do.  Hypnotherapy works best when both conscious and subconscious mind work together to help you achieve your goals.  In reality hypnosis gives you the ultimate control over your life. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The hypnotherapist is merely a companion on the client’s journey to healing. The subconscious mind can reject any suggestions that are against the client’s values.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

California Business & Professions Code Section 2908 says hypnotic techniques can be used to offer avocational or vocational self-improvement.  Hypnotherapists are not allowed to offer therapy for emotional or mental disorders or treat a medical condition unless they have a referral from professionals licensed to practice medicine, dentistry, or psychology.
